Accessibility Statement
AFA is committed to equal access for every person — online and in person.
Effective Date: March 20 | Last Updated: March 2026
OUR COMMITMENT
Amongstfriends Association (AFA) is committed to ensuring that our website, programs, services, and communications are accessible to all individuals — including people with disabilities. We believe that equal access is not a compliance requirement. It is an expression of our core value of Dignity, and a direct reflection of our mission to serve every person regardless of their circumstances.
AFA strives to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES OF OUR WEBSITE
AFA strives to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
-
AFA's website is designed and maintained with the following accessibility features:
• Semantic HTML structure to support screen readers and assistive technologies
• Descriptive alt text for all meaningful images
• Sufficient color contrast ratios between text and background elements
• Keyboard navigability throughout all website pages and forms
• Clear, consistent navigation and page structure
• Readable font sizes and scalable text that responds to browser zoom settings
• Descriptive link text that makes sense out of context
• No content that flashes more than three times per second (seizure safety)
• Forms with clearly labeled fields and accessible error messaging
PROGRAM & SERVICE ACCESSIBILITY
AFA is committed to making our in-person programs and services accessible to all individuals, including those with physical, cognitive, sensory, or other disabilities. We will make reasonable accommodations to ensure full participation in all AFA programs upon request.
Our wraparound professional network includes professional disability advocates who assist program participants in navigating disability-related services, benefits, and accommodations. This service is available free of charge to all AFA program participants.
If you require accommodations to participate in any AFA program or event, please contact us at least five (5) business days in advance so that we may make appropriate arrangements.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
While AFA strives for full accessibility, we acknowledge that some areas of our website or materials may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We are actively working to identify and address these gaps on an ongoing basis. Known areas of improvement include:
• Some older PDF documents may not be fully screen-reader compatible — we are working to update these materials
• Third-party embedded content (such as social media feeds) may not meet our accessibility standards — we are evaluating alternatives
If you encounter an accessibility barrier that is not listed here, please notify us immediately so we can address it.
FEEDBACK & ACCESSIBILITY REQUESTS
AFA welcomes feedback on the accessibility of our website and programs. If you experience any barriers to access, require accommodations, or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

THIRD-PARTY TOOLS & PLATFORMS
AFA uses certain third-party tools and platforms (including payment processors, email platforms, and social media channels) that have their own accessibility standards and policies. While AFA selects third-party tools with accessibility in mind, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of external platforms. We encourage users who encounter accessibility barriers on third-party platforms to contact those providers directly.
